Joust of the Saracen (Arezzo)
The Giostra del Saracino is held in Piazza Grande in Arezzo on the penultimate Saturday of June (Giostra di San Donato) at night and the first Sunday of September (Giostra di Settembre) during the day. It is a medieval historical reenactment in which the city's four districts participate. It involves hitting a target with a lance at the end of a fast horseback run.
Festival of the Thrush (Montalcino)
This is a historical reenactment organized by the municipality of Montalcino along with its four districts. It is a reenactment that originates from an ancient tradition dating back to the mid-1300s AD. The woods around Montalcino were rich in game and were explored by hunters. Their prey, including thrushes (specific birds), became dishes for festive banquets. The Festival of the Thrush takes place on the last weekend of October.
