To reach Castellare in Chianti, you have two choices: the first route is shorter, but a little more complicated, while the second is simpler and offers more attractive views, but takes a little longer.

Take the A1 Milan-Naples motorway and head south (towards Rome). After the Firenze Sud tollbooth and Incisa, come off at Valdarno, km 336. Follow the signs for Montevarchi for about 2.3 km (1.4 miles). Once you reach the village of Montevarchi, after about 800 metres, follow the signs for Gaiole in Chianti – Mercatale. Continue to follow the signs for Mercatale Valdarno for about 4 km (c. 2.5 miles); you will now find yourself on the SP16 road; at km 5, turn right towards Nusenna - Monteluco TV. After the sign indicating “Comune di Gaiole in Chianti”, continue along the SP73/A. After about 2 km (c. 1.25 miles), drive through Nusenna and continue until you reach Monteluco TV. Continue along the SP73/B, following the sign for Castellare. After about 2.8 km (c.1.7 miles), at km 7.2 of the SP73/B road, you will reach the Castellare in Chianti apartment complex.

Take the A1 Milan-Naples motorway and head north (towards Milan). After the Monte S. Savino and Arezzo tollbooths, come off at Valdarno, km 417. Follow the signs for Montevarchi for about 2.3 km (1.4 miles). Once you reach the village of Montevarchi, after about 800 metres (0.5 miles), follow the signs for Gaiole in Chianti – Mercatale. Continue to follow the signs for Mercatale Valdarno for about 4 km (c. 2.5 miles); you will now find yourself on the SP16 road; at km 5, turn right towards Nusenna - Monteluco TV. After the sign indicating “Comune di Gaiole in Chianti”, continue along the SP73/A. After about 2 km (c. 1.25 miles), drive through Nusenna and continue until you reach Monteluco TV. Continue along the SP73/B, following the sign for Castellare. After about 2.8 km (c.1.7 miles), at km 7.2 of the SP73/B road, you will reach the Castellare in Chianti apartment complex.
